Almost 60 years ago my father handed me this camera and a roll of 120 B&W film as we were about to board the steam train from Durango to Silverton Colorado and showed me how to load the film and adjust the speed and aperture.
I have been taking pictures ever since. At the age of twelve my father took a sabatical to teach in Lausanne, Switzerland for a year and I was bitten by the travel bug.
I worked for a private company designing, manufacturing and installing weather instruments and equipment and periodically traveled for work. I made three trips to Antarctica between 1999 and 2004, including one to the south pole, and received the Antarctic service medal. I also traveled to northern Canada (in the winter of course), SE Asia, South America and Europe.
In the mid 1990's I worked on a project with two friends to make an interactive globe using a projector, a fisheye lens and a translucent sphere. The project was ahead of it's time as we couldn't get a bright enough digital projector, but I began to play with the fisheye lens and started photographing with it.
